HOUSE KIT $200 + shipping
What can we tell you about Cranberry Cottage? This “Bow Roof” cottage is loosely based on a 1/24” design that we did in the early 80’s. I think it was 1985 or 1986. Either way it was over 30 years ago, but some designs are meant to be reinvented. We are so pleased with the way this quarter inch little house emerged from our earlier design. We have fresh ideas, better cutting tools (thank you laser) and wonderful new printing capabilities, not to mention a full design team.

This style of colonial bow roof homes dates back to the 1600’s. The earliest existing bow roof home was built in West Falmouth Massachusetts in 1678. It got it’s name because the roof is shaped to match the inverted bow of a ship, in hopes of making sea faring men more comfortable at home on land. It is believed that many bow rafters were salvaged from ships that were wrecked on Cape Cod. This style is also called whaleback, hogback and rainbow roof. The timbers for these roofs were cut green and laid over rocks and weighted until they cured.

The House - Thankfully we don’t have to wait for the timber to cure as it’s all been engineered and cut just right for you to easily build our little house. The doors are all made to open and close. The house kit includes all of the pre-cut wood for the house, floors, doors, trims, etc. as well as all wallpapers, shingles, precut siding and the base. It’s everything you need to build the house. We even supply the little bathroom details. Well, all the parts you can see peeking through the door.
LIGHTING KIT $95 + shipping
Included in this kit are the pierced “tin” shades, “tin” candle chandeliers as well as “tin” candle sconces and indirect lighting help to keep the colonial atmosphere of Cranberry Cottage. LANDSCAPING KIT $95 + shipping
The Landscaping - The landscape kit includes all of the greenery, path material, soil, all of the goodies to make the vegetable garden, Garden Angel, window box plants, conifer trees, wreath for the door, birdhouses, and basic plant material.
*Optional - (Melanie House is doing some of the lovely little finished flower gardens that you can set right into your landscape if you like. Details on this will be coming soon.)
The Furnishings - The owners of this house love the primitive colonial style and have chosen to furnish their home in that period. There is a full bedroom on the upper floor and a large keeping room below in the bow roof section of the house. Not adverse to some creature comforts, the kitchen and tool shed have been added on and will be functional but still with a primitive look. The tool shed is filled with old tools collected from New England antique shops.
